A collaboration between artists, locals and the community.

Who are we?

What we offer.

We have leased the Trowbridge Gardens from Hackney Council for the next seven years as part of a council project to deliver affordable workspace for existing small, independent and artistic firms in Hackney Wick while redevelopment takes place on other sites in the area, enabling them to stay locally.

Trowbridge Centre used to be a social service, it has now been transformed into a creative work place, offering a range or artists studios and offices, a café, a fitness club, gardens, and a gallery all within one space in East London.

We want to provide thriving community space, for the people of Hackney Wick.

Gardens

We have a variety of green spaces for the community to participate in looking after: a herbal garden, a front garden with a green house and we are also looking into using the roof. If you have green fingers or just want to help out, please get involved!

Our friends and partners Hackney Herbal are managing the gardens and organising amazing nature-based activities. To find out how to get involved click here.

Creative Spaces

We are hosting artist studios and we want to see the community involved in contributing to a participatory creative atmosphere. All artists will be involved in a program of young people training and free workshops for the community. A calendar will be soon posted. Join us an learn something new! Artists studios are managed by Arbeit Project, for availability please click here.

Mindfullness

Our activities have focused on a range of modalities that address the well-being from community based activities. Such as the Men Shed which is organized by wick award. Also we run discounted counselling sessions for the community which is organized by the tenants under Arbeit studio.

Our aims

Main aim

Our main aim is to create a vibrant community garden to support gregarious activities in a safe environment, offering shared allotments, gardens and other facilities, open for the young and the elderly to meet, talk and create together. The main benefactors are the local community, both young and older generations, of all and any background.

We aim to contribute to creating a greener Hackney

The gardens had not been maintained for the last 4 years. After one year in partnerships with Hackney Herbal and Hackney council both gardens have been retransformed, a new gate has been opened to the street to give better access to the main garden, a new glass house has been added, there are ongoing gardening workshops in the Herb Garden and Thingy café attracts local people to enjoy the garden.

Do you want to contribute to the local Hackney Wick community?
